The Purpose of this Council shall be to serve the people in this neighborhood and community, on a non-partisan, non-commercial basis, to help residents determine the important needs of the neighborhood and community by providing a place where ideas and information can be exchanged, problems studied, and action planned; to maintain and improve the physical and cultural standards and facilities of the neighborhood; to interest citizens in an understanding of the whole community and to develop a willingness to participate as leaders or in sharing responsibilities; to provide the machinery through which people of the area can speak out in its behalf, and be heard beyond its boundaries in calling attention to neighborhood problems.

Each year Laurel Park Council awards
The Council provided the following service Scholarships to graduating High School
for the residents of Laurel Park: Seniors.
Streets paved
Retaining Wall on Cutting & S. 52nd St.
Wattage of street lights increased Each Year Laurel Park works the
Beautification of Cutting Circle, State Park, City and Sims Metal to provide dumpsters
and Barrier at the end of S. 49th. for free neighborhood clean-ups.
These are just a few of the projects
resulting from Laurel Park's petitions. Each year Laurel Park sponsors Blues In
Park and a Casino Bus Trip to raise funds
for scholarships.
Laurel Park members are involved in the Community by
serving on City Commissions and Laurel Park publishes a Newsletter that is hand
attending City and other Organizations activities delivered by the Block Captains to each home
and workshops to obtain information that is passed in Laurel Park. The Newsletter contains Crime
on the the residents of Laurel Park. Prevention information and other valuable
information for the residents' education and use.
